How to start one of these “About yourself…” things?

Well, if I were to start by saying what's most important to me, that would have to be Love, connecting with others in different kinds of love (also self-love, which can be the most challenging of relationships!). Peace and happiness would be up there at the top too. But isn't this about all of us? How's this “about me”? I'm hardly unique in holding these as my highest values. It doesn't really tell you any more about me than what you may already know about yourself. Yet these are the most essential things about me, without which I wouldn't be the “me” who I AM.

I really wasn't necessarily intending on getting deep right off the bat! It's just that doing a bio or resume thing didn't excite me – and if it doesn't do anything for me, how much less so for you?

A lot of these things are about personality descriptions. That's great, but to me it's also about character, and there's definitely a difference between the two. To me, style, charm, and sense of humor would be more about personality, while honesty, integrity, and compassion would be character qualities.

I Love to laugh, be inspired, creative, awed, ecstatic, peaceful, to dream, be adventurous, to grow and expand, to be involved with others experiencing the same. I love mutual openness.
I Love the challenge of being outside my comfort zone, as rattling as that can be. Admitting and facing my insecurities is the only way to transcend them.
It's vitally important to connect as much as possible with that which empowers and strengthens me.

Okay, now that I'm warmed up, here's a little bio-info about me for ya:

I have been a professional dancer for many years, living in many places. The kind of dancing I did was ballet, modern, jazz, tap, breakdancing, you-name-it. Here in Las Vegas I've found that it's necessary to explain what kind of dancing, otherwise people tend to assume you mean stripping. (I worked with a horizontal pole, not a vertical one!) Also b/c strippers here call themselves dancers. I don't have anything against stripping (or “exotic dancing”, if you prefer), that's just not what I made a living doing, and also you don't spend years in classes learning different stripping techniques. Believe me when I say that there are some people out there who don't think there's much difference between the two. Anyway, enough on that tangent.
Now I do NIA, and if you have no idea what that is, you are by no means alone (I know a lot of dancers who don't even know what NIA is). That being said, it's really awsome! It combines movement qualities of dance arts with healing arts (like yoga) and martial arts (like tai chi), with expression and improvisation.

I'm a massage therapist and bodyworker –not the sensual kind, or what you find in most of the yellow pages ads. (I work in a spa, not a “parlor.”) I don't really need to go down this road again, do I? I love doing therapeutic muscle work along with energy healing. I'm passionate about the whole holistic-mindbody-alternative health (and myriad of other labels it goes by) thing. I'm grateful to be a part of this vast field and network of people doing absolutely fascinating things!

Otherwise I love doing personal growth stuff like seminars, and connecting with like-hearts and minds.
